Panel Member: Artificial Intelligence Unplugged. Perspectives from Multiple Disciplines

Abstract
The event “Artificial Intelligence Unplugged: Perspectives from Multiple Disciplines” is an interdisciplinary panel discussion dedicated to critically examining current and emerging applications of artificial intelligence (AI). Organized by McGill University´s Institute of Air & Space Law in cooperation with the Austrian Embassy in Ottawa and the Austrian Cultural Forum, the format addresses the discrepancy between the rapid technological integration of AI and the often isolated discourses in technology, ethics, law, and society. The aim is to bridge these disciplinary silos and enable a holistic analysis of the advantages, limitations, and risks of AI systems. The panel brings together expertise from medicine, law, engineering, and industry to synthesize divergent perspectives—from genetic research and ethical questions of neurotechnology to AI strategies in aviation and participatory approaches. Future development paths and regulatory challenges will also be discussed.
